HPE ProLiant DL380 G4 External SCSI Storage Server: Access and download. This component provides updated iLO firmware that can be installed directly on.
Hello: I have found in several threads that people have said that they have sucessfully installed CentOS 6 + on an HP Proliant DL380 G4 box. I have one of these boxes and I would like to hear from anyone who has sucessfully installed CentOS 6 on one of these boxes. I am a Dell server guy and normally work on Dell servers, the culture of HP servers is differnent and is presenting a learning curve. Can anyone illustrate a outline on how to install CentOS 6 on one of these HP DL380 G4 machines if it is possibile. The box is currently running Windowz Server 2003 SCSI controllers in box are HP 64-Bit/133MHz PCI-X 2 CH Ultra320 HBA I would like to run a RAID 5 if possibile It says Smart Array 6i Controller on System Board HP NC7782 Gigabit Server Adapter NIC x 2 units (Ethernet-CSMACD)
Do I need to update the BIOS? How is it done on a HP Box? Are there other things that must be updated? I don't want to appear ignorant but the whole HP experiance is new to me. Product Name: ProLiant DL380 G4 ROM Version: P51-07/19/2007 Redundant ROM Version: 04/26/2006 ROM Diags: N/A Hours in Service: 685 Serial Number: Bus Type: PCI[-X] Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. This box seems to be a nice box and I would like to use it but I do not know if it will run CentOS 6+ In this thread the Author says he sucessfully loaded CentOS 6 on a simuliar box but I cannot contact the Author https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=35319 Thank you for any help in advance.
